Too modern for the middle ages..

I actually give this two & a half stars.
This book is annoyingly written in soft modern language with modern attitudes about God, freedom, women, business, beauty, sex, food, health etc. The behaviors & dialogue are too hip, casual & guilt-free
and just don't ring true to the setting.
It doesn't accurately reflect the harsh world, superstitions, formality, manners, or culture of guilt
and strict religious penalties of medieval times.
If you can ignore all that, the story is a ripping yarn!
One chapter in particular about a young arsenist is masterful.
